discography

Since the site went online in June 2000 I’ve been monitoring certain internet stores for the availability of Ayler’s records. This was never intended as a definitive list of what was currently available but as a rough guide to what was easy to get hold of through the normal channels. However, things change, and in February 2008 I decided to drop the regular monthly update and switch to the basic list below. With ebay, Amazon marketplace and download sites, it’s probable that you can find everything you’re looking for somewhere. The purpose of this page is just to list what is currently in the catalogue and is generally available in the ‘shops’.

Note: The 4 CD boxset,  “The Complete Esp Disk Recordings” on Abraxas (Italy), includes the four original Ayler ESP albums, “Spiritual Unity”, “Bells”, “New York Eye And Ear Control” and “Spirits Rejoice”. The box set was released at the end of 2005 and was not authorised by the ESP company, so is technically a bootleg. However, if you don’t have any of the albums this may prove a cheaper option, so I thought I’d better mention it.
